Tech Team Tuesday: Tammy Reese
Office Manager and Human Resources
Q: Describe your role at SRGT:
A: As Office Manager and Human Resources, my role can be many things – from scheduling meetings, managing travel, to handling purchases for software/equipment, etc. And I also take care of Onboarding, Recruiting, Benefits and PTO tracking.
Q: What kind of projects have you been working on? What makes those projects exciting?
A: My latest project has been to find and oversee buildout of a new office space for our Marietta Technology team. I am so excited to tell everyone that we moved into this beautiful new space the second week of June. I enjoy working on projects like this, especially when you know each person personally who will be working in the space. It’s been exciting to collaborate with everyone and incorporate all these design ideas into a space that would make work life awesome.
Q: How do you contribute to work life at the office?
A: We have a small team in Marietta and they often are juggling conference calls and deadlines that all intersect at the same time. I do a lot of the little time-consuming items for the team (order meals into office, scheduling calls, travel, etc.), which allows our team to stay focused on the client and meeting deliverables.
Q: What is your favorite part of your work? What is the most challenging?
A: I think my favorite part of work is that we enjoy laughing at each other. My biggest challenge recently has been to work through the many changes in our benefit portal system
Q: If you could travel back in time, where/when would you go?
A: Hmm… if I could go back in time…good question. Probably my first pick would be the Smokey Mountains where I went on my Honeymoon. We had such a wonderful time hiking, zip-lining and kayaking. I loved every minute of that trip. We are planning to go back in three years for a second honeymoon.
Q: What is your favorite hobby (outside of work)?
A: I love boating in the Gulf of Mexico and on the beautiful Lakes in Georgia.
Q: What is your favorite movie and why?
A: My favorite movie is The Notebook. I think it is because it hit so close to home at the time. My Mother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and I watched my Dad sit with her and play tapes from when he had recorded her playing the piano over and over and over.
Q: Tell us about your family.
A: My husband and I are now empty nesters. We have two daughters, one of whom is married and the other who is in college. We also have two grandsons, ages 5 and 1. I am also now a proud Great Auntie to three boys, an 18-month-old and twins who are 1-month-old.
Q: Where did you grow up and what makes that place special?
A: I grew up in Seminole, Fla., just south of Clearwater Beach. We loved the beach and lived close enough to ride our bicycles without Mom worrying.
Q: What is something that would surprise people to learn about you?
A: I don’t know that there are any big surprises to tell anyone on the Tech team, but for everyone else, my husband and I had the same last name before marriage. Now for those of you who are wondering if he was a distant cousin of mine, I can safely answer NO – I made sure of that one quickly when we first met!
