Meet: Charlton Slaughter

Design Team Manager

  1. Tell us about your role at SRGT?

I have been Design Team Manager at SRGT for the last three years, but my background is in web development and design for the last 15 years, and one of the last places I worked was Online Insight / OneSource Relocation as a Systems Engineer

My job here at SRGT is to work as part of a great team of designers and developers who collaborate to design the user interface for all of our Blender™ products.  As the manager, I am responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the primary websites we create for our clients. I am always working to improve our usability, architecture and design.

  1. What kind of projects have you been working on?

I’m always working on a little bit of everything across our suite of products. Lately, I have been focusing on BlenderConnect™, our consumer engagement platform — creating frameworks to help the sales and marketing team be more effective with what they do. At SRGT, we all work together to create great products. I also have been working with the design teams here in Atlanta and in Hyderabad to redesign our user interface for all of our products to unify them, to create a similar look, feel and usability.

  1. What most excites you about working at SRGT?

The most exciting thing to me about SRGT is the dynamic group of individuals that work in all the offices.  I work in the Marietta office, and we work hard and enjoy a good laugh or two. Because I manage the design team in Atlanta and Hyderabad, I really get to collaborate, which is one of my favorite parts of the job. We have a strong bond as a result of all of our collaborating, which makes it even more fun.

  1. What’s your next project?

Redesigning the user interface is an ever-changing, ever-expanding project that we plan on finishing in the next three-four months, and then we will begin adding different components to the unified design. The great thing about my job is that it keeps growing and expanding. Things change so quickly in the tech and design world—we are always busy reworking and redesigning to keep our products current and user-friendly.

  1. Tell us about you. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I grew up on the Boardwalk Empire, Atlantic City New Jersey. I have one other sibling, my sister Shayree. I love music, and some of my favorites are Biggie, Nas, Earth, Wind and Fire, John Coltrane, and John Williams. I enjoy spending time with close family friends and playing flag football, which keeps me fit and helps me bring energy to the workplace.

  1. If you were a superhero, what would be your special skill?

My superpower would be teleportation because I live in Atlanta and never have enough time to get where I need to go. Oh, and superhuman strength because that would be cool.

Charlton is like Superman, on the outside he appears to be a normal man but when a designing villain shows its ugly head in one of our products, he leaps into action and using his superman strength and intelligence he pummels the villain back to the depths from whence it came.

  • I would have to agree with all the earlier comments. Also since Charlton joined SRG I’ve noticed our product improving at a faster pace. I think he might have some superhuman mental powers as well. 🙂
