Tech Team Tuesday: Vivek Chandramohan
MEET: Vivek Chandramohan
A: As a Project Manager, I act as an interface between two teams, the technology team based in ATL and the development team in Hyderabad. My role is to carry out feasibility analysis between the task and the time frame, clearly define the scope of work, mitigate any risks, minimize uncertainty and ensure the quality of the deliverables.
Q: What kind of projects have you been working on? What makes those projects interesting or fun to you?
A: I have been integral to all the projects at SRGT. There has been a clear transformation of pedagogical processes over the last couple decades and it is interesting to see the paradigm shift that technology has brought about in education. The conventional techniques are being continuously challenged by advanced methods leveraged by BlenderLearn™ thereby immensely benefitting the students. It is a privilege to witness and contribute to this transformation process.
I also take pride in the development of BlenderConnect™. The upcoming BlenderConnect for Travel will be an intuitive and adaptive app for tourists’ needs and interests. That will be another unique accomplishment for SRGT.
Q: How do you contribute to life at the office?
A: Life at SRGT can be quite demanding and I ensure the teams stay motivated at all times and avoid burnout. There is a lot that we learn each day not only about the professional activities but also personal lives. We try to be inclusive, considerate and accommodative to create a more empathetic and congenial atmosphere that is conducive for a relaxed and productive environment.
Q: What is your favorite aspect of your job?
A: The camaraderie that I share with the teams in Hyderabad and the US is my favorite part of the job. There is an abundance of knowledge and willingness to embrace challenges, which makes working here at SRGT very special.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: There are many places in my bucket list. Mountains and beaches fascinate me. I would like to visit Europe’s snow capped mountains for skiing and go to the beaches both in the Indian and the Pacific Ocean for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Q: What is your special hobby (outside of work)?
A: I am a sport lover! I enjoy following a variety of different sports and playing a few of them. I am partial to cricket, soccer and tennis.
Q: What is your favorite movie and why?
A: “Shawshank Redemption” and “Pursuit of Happiness.” It is all about not losing hope in the face of adversity. Both are very inspiring stories.
Q: Tell us about your family:
A: I have a doting family comprising my Dad, Mum, wife and I. My Dad is a retired scientist and Mum is a retired high school teacher after three decades of empowering students to face life. My better half is an accountant. Family time means much to us and we try and spend a lot of time together to ensure everyone feels loved and that we create happy memories as a family.
Q: Where did you grow up and what makes that place special?
A: I grew up in a small town called Bolarum, a suburb of Hyderabad, with the Air Force & Army bases surrounding it. Memories of playing Table tennis in the neighborhood club, cycling with friends, watching fighter planes flying and many such small cherished moments make the place special.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: If I do discover any, I’ll make sure they are not hidden and on display!
